I'm not a drum god or anything, but it’s cool.. I don’t want to be. Music has the power to inspire and transform, and it’s a blessing to be able to create something from nothing. For me, my favorite drummers are musicians first and foremost.. Brian Blade, Steve Gadd, Matt Chamberlain, Ringo Starr, Fred Eltringham.. they understand exactly what the music is calling for, and I'm always striving to do the same. In addition to live shows and session work, I also teach privately. I believe in starting from the ground up and building a solid foundation as a drummer. Chops have their place, but what matters to me are feel, tone, and texture.. in that order. Each song has a lock that needs to be opened, and you need to learn to be the key.
